Let’s bring hope to the suffering of Nepal
As you all know last month’s deadly earthquake in Nepal has killed more than 7000 people and no one exactly knows how many more people are still unaccounted for. Mother Nature’s brutal assault on this largely peaceful ancient civilisation has brought untold suffering to their lives. Despite poor conditions, aid agencies are doing their best with food, water and shelter supplies to the stranded people while appealing for more help. We too join hands with these agencies and readers and businesses to donate generously towards these relief efforts. We are also publishing a list of websites for your convenience to find more information about how you can help.
Through the encouraging feedback we received from our readers we know that our readers have a wealth of good articles to read and that Confluence is quite unique in that it is of interest to a particular audience and showcases the talent of so many writers. While we are trying our best to publish high-quality articles we are also trying to have a balance of variety. Even though the vast majority of the articles we receive are of a good standard we only have a fixed number of pages. This is why we continue to appeal to our contributors to limit the length of their articles. While we seem to be winning their support on this, we also wish to urge our readers to visit our website as this will be updated more often. Some of the articles which may not appear in the print issue will be published online.
As mentioned before, financing this journal continues to be a problem. Even though we have an excellent designer and printer, like any other business they have to be paid too. While we seek more advertisers, we would also like to ask you to recommend Confluence to any of your trade contacts to advertise in. Also, we would like to repeat our appeal for financial support from you through your annual subscription to Confluence and by introducing it to your acquaintances.
Enjoy reading this feature-packed issue and I look forward to your feedback!
